The Circle ZigZag Stitch

For the Circle ZigZag Stitch, we do a regular Circle lanyard, but we use a Square Stitch to change the direction of the circle stitches. In this example, we do 8 circle stitch intervals. However, you can do as many stitches as you'd like between changing directions.

You will need:
2 pieces of craft lace - equal length
1' of lace will equal 1.5'' of lanyard

The Square Alternator Stitch

The Square Alternator Stitch involves alternating between a Square Stitch and a Circle Stitch. Switching back and forth between the two stitches gives this lanyard a unique look.

You will need:
2 pieces of craft lace - equal length
1' of lace will equal about 1.5" of lanyard

The Twisted Pentagon Stitch

The Twisted Pentagon Stitch is just like the Twisted Triangle Stitch but with two extra strands. You should be able to do the Twisted Triangle Stitch before working on this one.

You will need:
5 pieces of craft lace - equal length
1' of lace will equal about 2.5'' of lanyard

I. Starting/Doing the Twisted Pentagon Stitch:

II. Finishing the Twisted Pentagon Stitch:
The Twisted Pentagon Stitch finished the same way as the regular Pentagon Stitch.

Tips:
While it may be counterintuitive, you need to keep repeating the same stitch in order for the lanyard to twist. This means that if you start a stitch with your top strand going to the left, you need to also start your next stitch with the top strand going to the left. Unlike the regular Pentagon Stitch, you do not alternate your stitch with the Twisted Pentagon Stitch.

The Pentagon (5-Strand) Stitch

The Pentagon Stitch is just like the triangle stitch but with two extra strands. You should be able to do the triangle stitch before working on this one.

You will need:
5 pieces of craft lace - equal length
1' of lace will equal about 2.5'' of lanyard

I. Starting/Doing the Pentagon Stitch:

II. Finishing the Pentagon Stitch:

Tips:
Pentagon stitches are much easier after the starting stitch has been completed. Do not get frustrated if you find it difficult to complete the starting stitch. Keep trying and eventually you will get it.

While it may be counterintuitive, you need to alternate your stitches to keep your lanyard from twisting. This means that if you start a stitch with your top strand going to the left, you need to start your next stitch with the top strand going to the right. Keep switching between the top strand to the left and top strand to the right all the way through the lanyard.

The Twisted Fluted Columns Stitch

The Twisted Fluted Columns Stitch is just like the regular Fluted Columns Stitch, only you cross the strands instead of bringing them straight across. In other words, instead of making a Wall Stitch with a Square Stitch attached on each side, make a Corkscrew Stitch with a Circle Stitch on each side.

You will need:
6 pieces of craft lace - 4 shorter pieces of equal length and 2 longer pieces that are twice that length

1' of lace for the short pieces and 2' of lace for the long pieces will equal about 1.5'' of lanyard

You will need:
6 pieces of craft lace - 4 shorter pieces of equal length and 2 longer pieces that are twice that length

1' of lace for the short pieces and 2' of lace for the long pieces will equal about 1.5'' of lanyard

Tips:
Be creative with how you finish the Fluted Columns. Having 12 strands gives you a lot of options. For example, you can end with four triangle stitches.
